The World Cup season is over, but it doesn't mean that we already began the break from the ski jumping. For the sport emotions care the ski jumpers, who take part in the national championships. As first the nationals were held in Poland, on the large hill (HS 134) in Zakopane.

The winner turned out to be the World Cup 2013/14 winner and double Olympic champion from Sochi Kamil Stoch. The 27-year-old representative of the ski club KS Eve-nement Zakopane took today his 6th individual national champion title with the jumps of 129 and 141,5 meters and overtook the others for over 38 points! The second distance, which Stoch achieved, is also the same distance that achieved Juha-Matti Ruuskanen in 2005, setting the hill record.

With the total score of 310.1 points Kamil Stoch overtook 19-year-old Andrzej Stękała, who represents Poland in the Junior's team. For this young ski jumper from Zakopane this is the biggest achievement in his career so far. The title of the vice-champion Stękała won thanks to two good and equal jumps of 127 and 124 meters and with the total score of 271,5 points he wore the silver medal today. Third place in the nationals took Piotr Żyła. 27-year-old ski jumper gave jumps of 121,5 and 141,5, but he propped the second jump by touching the snow with hand during the landing and that costet him a lot of points from judges. To the second place he lost only little bit over 4 points.

But the most sensational results came just behind the podium. 25-year-old Jakub Kot, who has not successful winter season behind and even thought about ending his sport career, took today very good 4th place. The older brother of Maciej Kot gave today jumps of 121 and 129 meters. His brother, World Championships team bronze medalist from Val di Fiemme 2013, finished sixth with distances of 121 and 123,5 meters. The Kot brothers were separated by Krzysztof Biegun who jumped 116,5 and 140,5 meters and finished 5th.

On the 7th place was ranked Klemens Murańka, who in the first round achieved only 116,5 meters, but in the second round he flew on a distance of 144 meters, but just like Żyla, he also propped the jump and gained very weak judges notes. Just behind Murańka placed Andrzej Zapotoczny with two equal jumps of 120,5 and 119,5 meters.

Unfortunately the competition ended bad for Dawid Kubacki, who was the leader after first round thanks to jump of 129,5 meters. His second jump on 104 meter divested him of the chance to reach the champion title and eventually he finished only 9th. The Top 10 of the Polish championships closed Tomasz Byrt, who also didn't shine this season and even didn't find himself in the national teams. Considered as a huge talent, but a little bit wasted, Byrt achieved distances of 118,5 and 120,5 meters.

Tomorrow the team competition of the Polish championships awaits us. The title from last year defends the AZS Zakopane ski club.
