If you looked to the fans’ faces under the Letalnica hill in Planica, Slovenia, you could see some disappointment because of the jury’s decision to cancel the second round. The battle ended early and the first round results were accepted as official. The only satisfaction for Slovenian fans was the fact that the home ski flyers won the team competition today. The second place belongs to Austrians and the third on to Norwegians.
Today’s wild wind conditions were best handled by home Slovenian folks – Jurij Tepeš (237,5m), Anže Semenič (216m), Robert Kranjec (225m) and Peter Prevc (218,5m). Tepeš’s flight was the longest today. The second place is occupied by Heinz Kuttin’s team: Stefan Kraft (226,5m), Michael Hayböck (225,5m), Manuel Fettner (204m) and Gregor Schlierenzauer (195,5m). Third place belongs to Alex Stöckl and his Norwegian squad - Johann Andre Forfang (209,5m), Kenneth Gangnes (212,5m), Anders Fannemel (219,5m) and Rune Velta (199m).
Thirty points – that was the difference between Norway and fourth Poland. Lukasz Kruczek nominated Piotr Żyła (230,5m), Aleksander Zniszczol (149,5m), Klemens Murańka (221,5m) and Kamil Stoch (218m). The fifth one is Japanese team made up by Junshiro Kobayashi (219m), Taku Takeuchi (200,5m), Daiki Ito (199,5m) and Noriaki Kasai (172,5m). Werner Schuster, current German coach, made a promise that he’s going to win the Nations Cup this year. There is only one little problem – today’s dull performances of German national team. Today’s sixth place belongs to Markus Eisenbichler (169m), Richard Freitag (183m), Michael Neumayer (192m) and Severin Freund (220m).
Let’s hope that tomorrow’s competition, the battle for the Crystal Globe, will be a dignifying end of the season.
