Severin Freund takes the victory in Trondheim

German World Champion Severin Freund celebrated his seventh victory of the season with jumps on 135m & 139m and took over the lead in the overall world cup. Second place went to Peter Prevc who showed 137.5m and 136m but missed the victory with 10.2 points. The third place went to local hero Rune Velta who was seventh after the first round but 141.5m the furthest jump of the second round let him climb on the podium. Stefan Kraft who was in lead after the first round finished ninth after his binding broke during his flight. Thanks to his great skiing abilities and the security band he could avoid a crash and serious injuries.

Because of Kraft´s problems in the second round Michael Hayboeck became the best Austrian of the day. With a new hill record of 143m in the first round and 132m in the second he came in fourth 1.9 points behind Velta.

The fifth place went to Anders Bardal who showed jumps on 129.5m and 137m and improved from Rank 12 in the first round to the final Rank five.

Behind Bardal Jurij Tepes made a really good competition with 132.5m and 129.5m he can be satisfied with the sixth place. Roman Koudelka on the seventh place was the first jumper of the day with technical problems. His binding made problems before his first jump but he could show there a strong jump on 126.5m. With 128m in the second round he could improve four places from eleven to seven.

The Top 10 was completed by Gregor Schlierenzauer on eight and Noriaki Kasai on 10. While Kasai gained 11 positions compared to the first round with strong 135m in his second jump Schlierenzauer lost three positions compared to the first round.

The team of the moment comes from Norway. The exciting battle for the “Nations Cup” between Germany and Norway continues also in Trondheim as Norway gained points for the ranking with six jumpers today. Besides Velta and Bardal in the Top 10 also Forfang on eleven, Jacobsen on 16, Fannemel on 25 and Stjernen on 27 made World Cup points today.

Team Germany in contrast just had three jumpers in the Top 30. After winner Freund, Richard Freitag was the second best German of the day on Rank 14 and Andreas Wank came in 22. Germany is still in lead with 255 points but five more competitions to come including one team event.
