It’s a common thing in ski jumping to face wind problems, it’s part of the game and everybody knows that. As we all know how difficult it is to compete in Finland, not matter if the ski jumpers are in Kuusamo, Lahti or Kuopio, compete in Finland is never as easy as in other part of of Europe. So it is far to say that it wasn’t an easy competition today, it has also been shown by the fact that the race has taken only one round to declare it’s winner. The athletes had some issue to handle with the wind conditions….so much so, that it didn’t make it easy to jump today. Besides all these difficulties, there have also been TWO hill record (the race today have been moved from HS120 to HS100) first we’ve had Gregor Deschwanden getting the first hill record with 105 meters, later on his teammate and four times olympic champion, Simon Ammann get the new one, with 106 meters. Severin freund won today with a jump of 103.5 meters and a final score of 139.3 points, only 3.4 points more than Anders Bardal, which came second today with 135.9 points, and a distance of 102.5 meters. Exequo for Stefan Kraft, - new leader of the overall world cup table- and Simon Ammann both with 132.5 points in the end. Today was also the 78th podium in career for Ammann. Peter Prevc,after the race was only 17th and lost two places in the world cup table. Rune Velta, fresh world champion on the NH in Falun ended the day at the 30th place. Both Kamil Stoch (virus infection) and Anders Fannemel (knee) had to give up to partecipate at today’s men competition. We all hope to see them back soon again at the hills. Next stop will be in Trondheim.
