Anders Jacobsen wins today’s qualification in Lahti
Jiri Jindra - March 2015

Admit it - we all were a bit worried whether the qualification will take part today when second training was canceled and the quali itself was 30 minutes postponed, but finally all jumpers made it to the ground. Today’s winner was Anders Jacobsen, second was Piotr Żyła and third place belongs to Daiki Ito.
The reason why the 2nd training was canceled and quali itself postponed is simple: in Lahti it was snowing and windy, so jury waited for better conditions. At 18.30 CET the qualification on Salpausselkae hill started. Norwegian Anders Jacobsen jumped 130 meters today and although his style points weren’t the best, he won the qualification. One meter shorter was Piotr Żyła from Poland and the third position belongs to Japanese Daiki Ito (123,5m).
Jarkko Määttä can be satisfied as well because of his jump 126 meters long which brought him the fourth place. We all know that Austrian Manuel Poppinger is currently in shape, so we can’t be surprised his performance was 126 meters and his position 5th. The next two places belong to Germans: Richard Freitag (123,5m) was sixth and Michael Neumayer (122,5m) seventh.
In my opinion, the most satisfied guy today is the younger brother of Peter Prevc: Cene Prevc jumped 125 meters (3 and half meters longer than his pre-qualified brother!) and he occupies the really good 18th position. In Sunday’s competition we’ll also see Seou Choi (today 37th) from Korea and Slovenian Jaka Hvala (today 38th), who already has some World Cup experience.
The individual competition starts on Sunday at 14.00 CET, tomorrow we’ll see the team race in Lahti at 18 sharp. Stay tuned for more information!
