We have began the day with the medals in the women's ski jumping competition, which saw the Olympic champion Carina Vogt, winning the gold in the women's race on the Lugnet hill in Falun, followed by Japan Yuki Ito (silver) and Austrian Daniela Iraschko -Stolz (bronze). After that also the men have began their world championship campaign, with the qualification round on the normal hill HS 100.
Qualification that was won, maybe this win came with a bit of surprise, but has been won by the Swiss Simon Ammann. A little surprising just for the simple fact that over than month ago, "Simi" has been carried in Hospital after he fell victim of a bad fall in Bischofshofen. The Swiss who after the fall was, sent back home, with bruises but fine, has been out of the competitions, and started back to training only a few weeks ago, managing in this way to get back in the squad in time for these Nordic World Ski Championships.
The 33-year-old Swiss, is therefore in the running to take home a medal from the normal hill tomorrow in Falun, which the color of the medal will be we'll find out only after the race.
Fortunately, at least for the ski jumpers, the wind conditions were not that bad as in the morning, and got better in the afternoon. In fact this morning the guys from Nordic Combined has seen themselves waiting from 10 am to 1:30 pm, before they could start their race.
Good news also for Italy, where we have Sebastian Colloredo, David Bresadola, Federico Cecon and Daniele Varesco, all qualified for tomorrow’s race. Don’t forget to turn your TV on tomorrow at 4:30 pm.
