It is now four years since the day, that Johan Remen Evensen - now TV expert for NRK - has set the world record, taking it away to his, former teammate Bjørn Einar Romøren (236.5 meters back in Planica in 2005). Record which remains in the house of the Norwegians, at least for this weekend? That It 's all to see.
Yesterday during the training jumps, the young Norwegian ski jumper Sigurd Nymoen Søberg, landed on a 236.0 meters. If the conditions stay like this, everything give us the right to think, that everything will coming good for the the next days.
Meanwhile today qualifying was won by Anders Fannemel with one hell of a jump, of 246 meters, - only half meter away from the current world record-, and with a score of 223.4pts, the norwegian has finished in front of his teammate Andreas Stjernen, which came second with 224m / 202.3pts. Third was Japan, Daiki Ito, with 216m and 194.9 pts. Amongst the pre qualified ski jumpers, the longest jump of the day goes to Peter Prevc, only one meter away from the current W.R, with 245.5, and the ever green Noriaki Kasai with 235 meters.

During the training jumps the three longest jumps of the series were those of, and Peter Prevc 231.5m, Norway’s Andreas Stjernen with 227.0m, and juniors world champion Johann Andre Forfang 225.0m respectively, which means the conditions are more than perfect. When it comes to ski flying, everything becomes even more exciting in ski jumping.
On another note, with the absence of Roman Koudelka and Stefan Kraft, this weekend might have a new overall world cup leader, with Peter Prevc. The slovenian is currently second in the table with 1.150 points.
With the advent of the reopening, of the ski flying hills in Planica, - where as a common thought suggest a new world record is pretty much a reality - the Vikersundbakken will have a nice competition, with the addition of such a wonder. Below you can see the video, of today's jump by Anders Fannemel
Once more a taste of Norway even in the ladies, today have taken place the ladies qualification round in Ljubno, Slovenia, where the Norwegian Maren Lundby, won with a distance of 86.5 meters with a final score of 112.1 points, finishing in front of the revived Sarah Hendrickson (83.5 meters / 114.6 pts) and Slovenian Eva Logar (81.5 meters / 110.9 pts).
