Sapporo Day 1 – Victory for Miran Zupancic.
With jumps on 100m and 91m the Slovenian Miran Zupancic was able to win his first ever COC in faraway Japan. With 251 points he could outpace the Norwegian Kenneth Ganges who celebrated his first podium of the season. The third place, with jumps on 94.5m and 91m, was taken by Clemens Aigner. For the Austrian it was the best result in his career so far.

Ten points behind the podium finished Andreas Wank and Jaka Hvala on a shared fourth place. Both were able to climb several places in the second round. The German was just on the 14th place after the first round but showed the farthest jump in the second round on 92m. Jaka Hvala was placed on 12th Rank after his first jump.
One point behind them Ulrich Wohlgenannt came in 6th just 0.5 points ahead of the young Japanese Masamitsu Ito.
Daniel Wenig, who represented Germany in the last World Cups, finished 8th with jumps 90.5m and 89.5m.
The Top 10 was completed by Sami Niemi from Finland on the ninth and the Slovenian Tomaz Naglic on the tenth place.
Danny Queck and Pius Paschke on 11 and 12 showed that also the German COC-Team is very strong.
Philipp Sjoeen who was in the Norwegian WC and celebrated two top 15 results in Oberstdorf and Engelberg came in 14th.
A big surprise today was Lars Antonissen from the Netherlands. The 19 year old showed jumps on 86.5m and 77m and reached his first ever COC points.
As the World Championships in Falun are coming closer the Swedish Team still is not in shape. Carl Nordin and Christian Inngjerdingen finished 47 and 48.
The new COC overall leader is the winner of the day Miran Zupancic. The next COC will be held tomorrow at the HS134 in Sapporo.
