Gorm Johansson: The first ski flying event of 2015

The first ski flying event of 2015 in Kulm.

The formula 1 competition for ski jumpers has started today. A rebuilt hill in Kulm showed itself from a good side. It was perfectly prepared and looked amazing. As usual they started with official training. 2 Jumps. We were all waiting for the big answer to the question: how big is this lady? The trainings and qualification went very well with a lot of good and long jumps. For sure we got the answer from Severin Freund with his amazing jump of 237.5 m. So the lady is quite big! Pero Prevc also gave a good jump and personal best with 230,5m. And again the amazing old man Noriaki Kasai also made a personal best with 225m. It is only one thing to say about this: AMAZING. So today the first competition took place. I had so big expectations for this. But it went on to be a big big down. A lot of backwind and a jury who is again pussycats. They have the gate compensation to use, but let it go with so many short jumps. This was so boring to watch. Ski flying should be so much more. But of course some good jumps were done, and Severin was again the best and won clearly. Let us realy hope we will have a good competition tomorrow.
