Anders Jacobsen succeeds in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ahead of Simon Ammann and Peter Prevc

What a Neujahrsspringen in Garmisch-Partenkirchen! The weather was really good, the wind was absolutely acceptable and the mood totally fantastic!

The old year ended amazingly for Anders Jacobsen, who won yesterday's qualification and just as great started the new year for the 29-year old Norwegian. With jumps of 135.5m and 136.5m (286pts) he secured himself the victory ahead of a very relieved Simon Ammann, who performed 138m and 133m (279.4pts). Also this time Peter Prevc became third (136.5/136m; 276.9pts) and proved to be the most stable favorite of this Four-Hills-Tournament.

The top three was followed by Gregor Schlierenzauer (132.5/139.5m; 275.7pts), who entered the final as lucky loser after his loss against Anders Jacobsen. The lucky loser list was completed by Noriaki Kasai (133.5/137.5m; rank 8), who was loosing against Simon Amman, Roman Koudelka (132.5/133m; rank 11), who watched Peter Prevc win, as well as Taku Takeuchi (19th) and Jarkko Määttä (18th).

Rune Velta, who also didn't show a single weak jump on this hill, came in as fifth (134/136.5m), followed by Stefan Kraft (132/135m) and Michael Hayböck (134/138m), who were divided by 0.2 points only.

It remains tensing, who of them will be the better one in the end as both jump on the same high level.

Having a look to the overall table, Stefan Kraft still leads with 561.9 points, while Michael Hayböck fell back to rank three with 554.8 points. Second is now Peter Prevc (560.8pts), who is very close behind Kraft. But also Anders Jacobsen still has chances for the overall victory with 540.7points on rank four. We can be very excited about what the Austrian part of the Four-Hills will reveal!

Germany's best athletes Richard Freitag and Severin, who had to repair their performance in Oberstdorf, landed on the places nine (127/134.5m) and ten (127.5/135.5m). Looks like team Germany put things quite right again.

Andreas Kofler lost a bit compared with his tournament start and finished as 12th today. On the other hand Anders Fannemel, who can't call this hill one of his favorites, became 14th right ahead of Kamil Stoch. Besides the German youngster Stephan Leyhe can be really satisfied with his day again, as he was 16th, while other youngsters as Johann A. Forfang (19th) and Phillip Sjoeen (23th) came in behind the 22-year old from Willingen.

However, names like Daniel Wenig, Robert Kranjec, Daniel Andre Tande, Matjaz Pungertar, Dawid Kubacki, as well as Jernej Damjan and Davide Bresadola lost their duels and missed the final round today.

And last but not least let's take a look at the World-Cup overall, where Michael Hayböck currently leads with 549 points ahead of Roman Koudelka and Anders Fannemel, who share the second place with 530 points. Will the yellow bib get a new inheritor in Innsbruck or can Michael Hayböck extend his leading position?

We'll find out this weekend! Mark your calendars: The qualification will start at 13:45 on Saturday followed by the competition at 13:45 on Sunday.

Happy New Year from all of us at SkiJumpingItaly- may this year bring you lots of great experiences, while watching skijumping and moving forward to meet your goals in life! We thank you for your support and look forward to a great new year with you!
