From Lillehammer to Mother Russia.Today Nizhny Tagil hosted the men qualifications round in the FIS Ski jumping world cup, which has as today’s winner the young finnish ski jumper,Jarkko Määttä.

The finn, has managed to get a distance of 133 meters scoring 129.5 pts, right behind the Määttä,the Czech, Jan Matura which came second with a distance of 130 meters and 129 pts. Third was the polish Dawid Kubacki, 126 m / 127.3 pts. All in all it was a good qualification round, especially for Italy which had a double today, qualifying both two of their athletes for tomorrow’s race. Federico Cecon and Daniele Varesco will both try to follow their team mate Davide Bresadola, footsteps, by entering into the top 30, but this is already a bit improvements for the two youngsters. Here what both, Daniele and Federico had to say.

I could not find the pace from the start,in my first jumps I did not have a good tune and I struggled a bit to find the rhythm in the three jumps of training prior to qualification. My jump in the qualification instead, I managed to find a good jump, with a greater technical stability, not quite yet what has been done in the training, but pretty much similar. For tomorrow we will aim to do better even thanks to the jumps of today who have helped us to understand what is like this hill. We will aim to make the most of our potential and then we'll see. Yes,finally the World Cup have arrived, and I thank all my coaches who have given me this opportunity. We are working well and even if the weather didn't not helped so far,we still managed to keep a good consistency in the training jumps

Now slowly we will try to develop more and better our technique, and we will try to do well throughout the season with continuity”.

Federico: “My jump today was definitely not 100% for the opportunities that I have at this time.

But the important thing was to pass the qualification and be part of the game for tomorrow's race. The feelings i have are positive and the jumps are much improved from those of the first competition of the season in Klingenthal. The best jump I did,was the second, during the training session. The hill is very challenging and not so easy to bring home a nice distance. We are pumped up for tomorrow where both Daniele Varesco and I, have a good chance of doing well”.
