Simon Ammann and Noriaki Kasai achieved a double triumph at the World Cup in Kuusamo. After two jumps Ammann and Kasai took the same note - 272.2 points. Swiss was 75 times on the podium podium and won 23 competitions. And Japanese beat his own record as the oldest ski jumper who won the WC competition. Two legends! Third ski jumper on the podium was Severin Freund with 268.7 points.
Noriaki Kasai became a leader after first round with his beautiful jump at 145.0m, Ammann jumped at 135.5m - he was 6th and Severin Freund was 7th with jump at 135m. Both, Swiss and German improved their final jumps - 144.0m and 137,5m. It allowed them to achieve the podium. Peter Prevc who was 4th after first round and he defended his place. It didn't work so good for Michael Hayboeck and Anders Fannemel, they were 2nd and 3rd after first round, and ended at 5th and (ex aequo with Roman Koudelka) 6th place. In the top 10 of the competition were also Anders Bardal, Jernej Damjan and Rune Velta.
The weather conditions in Kuusami were pretty hard in some moments, and ski jumpers had to wait for their starts. Unfortunately, we were also able to see two dangeroug crashes. Andreas Wellinger who fell on his back just after the take off and Anze Lanisek who crashed just before he landed, because he lost one of his ski during his jump and he wasn't able to land safely. They were both transported to hospital. We wish them lots of health and speedy recovery!
The leader of the general clasification is still Simon Ammann with 236 points, just before second Noriaki Kasai (200 points) and 3rd Roman Koudelka (166 points).
Next competition is in Sunday in Lillehammer, so stay tuned!
