Gorm Johansson: The weekend in Ruka/ Kuusamo is history!

Weekend in Ruka/ Kusamo (Lappland) is history. Again the wind gave a lot of trouble, I think today even more than yesterday. This is quite often a big problem up there. and when they force this kind of comps to take part, it has to be bad for a lot of athletes. Today it was not fun at all to watch this. Way to big changes and too many half scared athletes. But we got the comp and again we had a fantastic performance from Simi and the amazing Kasai.

They where at the end on the same points and split the victory. And With Freund on third place, we had a podium with quite high average age on the podium. Routine proved to be a good thing in these conditions. So to the bad part: Unfortuanly we had to see 2 bad crashes today. But those were not becauce of the wind. Wellinger made a mistake and flipped early in the flight. He took a hard landing. It did not look good at all.

Lanisek lost his clip and ski in the end of his flight. That was also a bad crash. Both of them were taken to hospital. Until now I don't know anything about any injury. Let's hope they will have a quick recovery and be back fast. The weekend is over, the memories from it will be: `Wind, Amman and Kasai. 2 legends, who made it a strong weekend. And of course I will remember the 2 bad crashes. I hate bad crashes. Next stop is my hometown Lillehammer. The hills wil lbe ready and perfect as always. I hope wind will be no problem then.
