After yesterday qualification round, won by Norwegian Anders Bardal, today’s men event saw Simon Ammann finishing ahead of everyone, on the podium with the olympic champion, Daiki Ito (2) and the ever green Noriaki Kasai (3). Ammann maintained his leadership, after his first jump of 139.5 (Simi which was 7th in the table before today competition) repeated himself in the final round with 142 meters, with a final score of 284.1 pts (8 pts more than Ito). Athletes like Ammann and Kasai are getting hard to find nowadays, mostly because after each ups and downs they kept their spirit high. They trained hard throughout their careers, and never gave up. The past two season for Ammann haven’t been the best, but yet he still here and today once more gave prove of his tenacity. Simon Ammann celebrating today his victory in Kuusamo

As for Kasai, which came third today with two good jumps (131 / 136.5) and a good final score 270.5, what else can we say, that we haven’t already said before. This man is 42 years old, and he still among the best in this sport, but most of all he became a legend for all winter sports, not just ski jumping. Is not easy to find someone of his age still giving an hard time to the youngsters and get on the podium and like it happened the past season, winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games.

Two very good jumps (138 / 137.5) and a final score of 276.1, only 8 pts behind Simon Ammann. What we expect from him, is to see more performances like today, more podiums like today, because his talent is second to none. Finland has reborn from its ashes: Today was also a good day for the Finnish movement, with the best of the finns -Lauri Asikainen- finishing at the 8th place, with Ville Larinto at the 21st place of the table and veteran Janne Ahonen in 29th place. Also Harri Olli didn’t do so bad, if we consider that this has been his first world cup competition in FOUR years. Olli which has said to have found happiness finding “a great woman” as he said, his wife Tiia, has finished the first weekend of competition in Kuusamo at the 45th place. Anssi Koivuranta which didn’t made it to the final round has today finished at the 35th place,Jarkko Maeaettae 36th,Sami Niemi 37th. Norway ok,but Hilde not so good : Norway has in Anders Fannemel his best athlete today. After his 4th place in Klingenthal, Fannemel finished 6th today in Kuusamo with Velta in the 11th place. It didn’t go too well for Bardal, which after a not so great first jump (118.5), where the norwegian didn’t found the perfect conditions, during the last jump in the final round,he managed to get a 129.5 measure. Tom Hilde 30th today, he seems he is struggling to find his best shape back, but with baby steps we are more than sure that we will soon find back into the top 10. Tomorrow don’t forget qualification round and than competition, starting from 2:30 pm.
