Finally winter season began today, all the ski jumping fans have waited and waited for this new season to kicking off again in Klingenthal. The past winter has been very busy with the Olympics Games, so this year it won’t be any different. Another busy season also with the World Ski Championships in Falun (SWE). The excitement for this new season is pretty much undeniable, because let’s face it is not really winter without all the nordic sports, and for us all, without ski jumping. Qualification round has been won by Roman Koudelka, the czech has in fact had the longest jump of the qualification round (not the day) with 142 meter and 144.3 points, behind him ended with 136.9 meters and 140.5 points scored, third was norwegian Anders Fannemel with 139.5 meters and 135.5 points scored. A very good start also came from Hayboeck (4th) Takeuchi (5th) Eisenbichler (6th) V.D.Savoie (7th) Bresadola (9th)

Before the qualification round began, the trial round took place and Norway Philip Sjoen managed to jump long enough to reach 148 meters,1.5 meters longer than the current hill record, but during the landing the norwegian fell, bad enough to be taken to the hospital. Now Philip Sjøen will remain in hospital for a further check up.

Not how I pictured my world cup debu.. All good, no worries! i'll be back.” As said the norwegian on his Facebook page

Disappointment : A bit of disappointment might come from the italian team, which despite the very good performance by Davide Bresadola (he is the only one qualified for the men competition), didn’t see the young Daniele Varesco, and veterans Andrea Morassi and Sebastian Colloredo, reaching the top 40 spots, which guarantee the access to the men competition this weekend. Also Jaka Hvala,Anssi Koivuranta,Gregor Deschwanden,Robert Kranjec, to name a few have been left out. Tomorrow will be team event at 16:00 live on Eurosport.
