Manuel Fettner answers a few questions. Consuelo Conte [KokkaMufc] Hello everybody, Skijumpingitaly is finally back online (after a very long time!), as you all can see, new site, new look, but still us, with the willing to bring you the latest news, and interviews with your favorite ski jumpers. Here a first glimpse. We had the chance this summer to ask a few questions to Manuel Fettner, hero of the team event in Predazzo, two years ago at the World Ski Championships, but due to obvious reasons, we couldn't add the interview until today. We do all you enjoy it.

Manuel Fettner : Hello everybody I’m fine. Right now on my way to SGP Hinzenach! SJI : The summer season has finally began, did you recovered from the past one? or even better what did you do to recharge your batteries? MF : Had two vacations this year, one with my old ski jumping friend Axu Kokkonen and Thomas Lackner in Bali in May and the second one with Thomas Diethart in Mallorca in August. Vacations are always good to recharge! SJI : Can you tell us how did you become a ski jumper, what exactly attracted you about this sport to make you decide to pursuit a sporting career in ski jumping?
MF : I started when I was ten years old, because of fun. I didn`t thought about making a career at this age. It came by time as everything went very well in the next four years.
SJI : What do you think you would have become, if you didn't turned out to be a professional sport man?
MF : You never know what would have been.
SJI : Can you describe to us how you felt, the very first time you stood in the air? What have you felt, and how much you liked it?
MF : No cause when you start, the hills are so small that the feeling in the air is not the same like it becomes later on bigger hills.
SJI : Do you have any hobbies? What do you like to do when you're not jumping? Who is Manuel Fettner when is not at the hills?
MF : I like doing all kind of other sports, I like listening to good music and hanging out with friends.
SJI : Let’s go back to talk about ski jumping, last season has been a very long and tiring one, how much did you enjoined?
MF : It's always easier to enjoy when you jump good. Then the season also doesn’t become tiring, doesn’t matter how many competitions are at the plan. But I wasn´t satisfied with my performance last year so I was very happy when it was over.
SJI : In the past seasons, ski jumping has been subjected by different changes. How good do you think they can be for an already enjoyable sport like this?
MF : I think you can never say that all changes are good or bad in general. For sure some were better then others.
SJI : There is anything of the old rules, that you would like to bring back, in order to eliminate something of the new ones?
MF : Right now I think the rules are good and fair, but there should be more work on making it easier to understand for the spectators and work a little bit more on making ski jumping competitions more attractive, like bigger events.
SJI : What do you think the new coach have brought, or might bring to the Austrian team?
MF : The new coach will bring his own type of coaching and handling with special situations, so it’s like a little bit of a new feeling for everybody, not just the young ones who just came into the team.
SJI : Did you set any personal goals for the next winter season?
MF : Yes, i want to get myself on a higher level and work hard and constantly on this.
SJI : Ok Manuel last question. Back in February 2013, you have managed to do the unthinkable, in Predazzo, during the landing you ski, slipped away, but you managed to keep the balance, and put the telemark. How did you do that? It was simply amazing! MF : I really don´t know, sorry for no better answer .
