Austria dominates the final team event of the season in Planica

If last year we had to wait the final day of competitions to know who was going to be the winner of the nations cup, with Norway passing by Austria and winning on a very last and exciting event, today was a different story with Austria taking back their crown, but with not less excitement of last season On the Bloudkova Velikanka hill in Planica, we witnessed at a four hours of nonstop ski jumping starting with the ladies – competition won by the very talented Sara Takanashi, ahead of Julia Clair and Yuki Ito – to continue with the men team event. Has been a fun morning, with a new hill record, -yesterday both Hilde and Freund sets two as well- set by Piotr Zyla with 141 meters, actually if Marius Kraus wouldn’t touch the floor with the hands he would be the new hill record holder with 141.5. As said above it was a fun morning, with some good jumps a few also over the 130’, despite the wind wasn’t so friendly, but the jury managed well to let the competition to go ahead. Austria was way too strong today to be catch, but the fight for the other two places on the podium has been very entertaining with Germany, Norway Slovenia and Poland above all to give battle. At the end we have seen Poland, surpassing Norway finishing in this way at the second place on the podium with the norwegian contingent ending at the third, with a difference of 3 tenths of a point from the second-ranked. But today it wasn’t just a day of ski jumping it was also a day to say goodbye to one of the best ski flyer of this sport. Martin Koch. The Austrian which had his last appearance in the World Cup in Harrachov, has officially ended his career in Planica as trial jumper. Koch is just one of the many faces we won’t see again next year, on top of the big ones there are Martin Schmitt and Jakub Janda. Tomorrow is going to be the last day of competitions for everyone than we will have a due break after such a long and intensive season, which will kick off again this summer with the SGP. Today’s podium Austria 1.045,6 Poland 1.007,3 Norway1.007,6 Complete results from today Nations Cap standing Austria 5.287 pts Germany 4628 pts Slovenia 4238 pts Poland 3702 pts Norway 3019 pts Italy ranked 11th with 185 pts.
