Planica Day 1 sees Severin Freund winning today men competition

If yesterday qualification round hasn’t been the most enjoyable one, this cannot be said about today men competition from the LH – yes a bit unusual- especially toward the end of the first round. There has been also two new hill record today in Planica, first one set by Anders Bardal with 136 meters than beaten by Severin Freund with 137.5 meters (same jump distance also in the final round). Today’s event has been a very interesting and a not so boring competition which has seen the top 15 ski jumpers contending their final positions until the very end. With a 4th place Kamil Stoch is officially the winner of the overall world cup table, with Severin Freund taking away the second place in the table from Peter Prevc which is now 3rd in the ranking. Another top performance by the veteran but still very young Noriaki Kasai, today ranked 6th, best result of the season also for Andreas Stjernen with a 10th place. Into the top 20 today we are finding another Prevc, Cene, Peter’s younger brother which after the first round was 14th with a jump of 128 meters, Cene ended the day at 16th place of the table. A real pity for Roberto Dellasega 20th today after the final round with a very good jump of 127 meters, finished 29th losing 9 places in the table after a poor second jump with only 114.5. Tomorrow is going to be team competition but first the ladies will take the stage closing their world cup season.Sunday qualification plus men event. Kamil Stoch wins the overall world cup title! Kamil Stoch has officially won the overall world cup title, after the last title was won by Adam Malysz in 2007. Stoch closing a memorable year for him and for the whole polish team, after his recent success and two gold medals at the last winter games in Sochi last month. Consuelo Conte [@KokkaMufc]
