Matjaz Pungertar wins qualification round in Planica.

After a long winter season, Planica is here, which means we approached the end of the 2013/14 season. Today have taken place from the LH in Planica – the ski flying hill is currently under renewal for the next season – and I must say that watching ski jumping instead of ski flying at this time of the year is a bit weird. But let’s talk about the qualification, shall we? Pungertar compared to the ski jumpers who came next have managed to get a proper jump with 128.5 meters same as his team mate Anze Lanisek, but with better judge points. (121.7 against 119.9) Third today was Andreas Stjernen, with 127.5 meters. Another good result came from the former world record holder, Bjorn Einar Romoeren, which finished today at 14th place while Tom Hilde was 6th and Anders Fannemel was 8th. Unfortunately Italy couldn’t make to qualify more than one ski jumper for tomorrow competition. All Bresadola, Colloredo and Federico Cecon missed out their chance. Some of the big names in the game also haven’t managed to go through the qualifications today. People like Tepes, Damjan, Velta, Ziobro, Koivuranta, just to name a few. The contenders for the crystal ball, Kamil Stoch (the polish ski jumper has an advantage of 168 pts) and Slovenian Peter Prevc will fight for the World Cup title this weekend with the Stoch likely to be one which will celebrate at the end on Sunday.
