"Lottery competition" in Zakopane won by Anders Bardal ahead of Peter Prevc and Richard Freitag!
19/01/2014 19:34
After almost 2 hours and 30 minutes of the first round the organizators decided to cancel the second round. The best today was Anders Bardal from Norway, who jumped at 131.5m, second was Peter Prevc of Slovenia (124.5m) and third Richard Freitag from Germany (129.0m).
During the competition we had a few weird situations. First of all at the beginning four ski jumpers who started at 14:00 had to repeat their jumps because the organizators decided to cancel their results and started first round again at 14:40. Another problems had Thomas Diethart and Andreas Wellinger they also had to repeat their jumps. Their speed was too small (if we compare with other athletes) because of the heavy rain that started and ran in the tracks. It didn't help them a lot. Their second results were similar.
Wind and rain unfortunately were terrible in Zakopane. You had to be very lucky to get good conditions. Some jumpers had -18 points for the wind and others +7!
Fourth became Marinus Kraus. He was followed by the Russian youngster Mikhail Maksimochkin, who gained his best World-Cup result so far, Severin Freund, Michael Hayböck and Tomaz Naglic. Anssi Koivuranta and Maciej Kot completed the top ten.
Besides everything the atmosphere and the crowd like always in Zakopane was unbelievable! The fans cheered every ski jumper. It is really sad that they had to watch a really unfair competition like this. I hope that it will never happen in the future anymore.
Leader of the WC is still Kamil Stoch, who was 17th today, 2nd in general classification Gregor Schlierenzauer was 12th and 3rd is Peter Prevc, who was 2nd. He "defeated" Simon Ammann who did not come to Zakopane.
Next competition will be in Sapporo - 25.01.2014!
