What will Melanie Faißt do?

18/01/2014 14:53

Sochi 2014 are the first Olympic games in history, where ladies can take part in the category ski-jumping. Let’s say you’ve been part of the German A-team for a few seasons, you’ve been talented, working on yourself, but the last pre-Olympics season wasn’t good for you. All you wanted was to take part at the Olympics. And you didn’t make it. It’s clear that you are disappointed, but during next four years you could train hard, be sure about your jumps and take part at the Pyeongchang Olympics 2018, because you are young and talented! That was the scenario which could have happened, but unfortunately it won’t, and the reason is clear – Melanie Faißt, age 23, announced her retirement. Her “passion and fulfillment,” as she said to the DSV, is gone. She wants to focus on her future career. But what can a young retired ski-jumper do? SV Baiersbronn, her ski-jumping home and club, could get a job for Mel, perhaps as a ski jumping coach of young, perspective talents. This same job could Faißt get from the DSV, the German ski association, as a thank-you. Don’t forget about the photo-shooting for March 2013's Playboy magazine– the model job could be perfect for Melanie as well.

Of course there are many opportunities for a young lady like Melanie Faißt. All we hope is that she will do well and be satisfied. And Melanie: If you are going to miss ski jumping, we all like to see you on the hill again!
