Gorm Johansson: HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE SKIFLYING WEEKEND IN KULM

The weekend started in the worst way it could, with a terrible fall of Thomas Morgenstern. This was horrible to watch but today we all know that Thomas is better an will not suffer from this..that was nice to hear!
The weekend belonged to the amazing Noriaki Kasai, the 41-year old Japanese took the victory on Saturday and the third place on Sunday. I take my hat off for him. He made history, which will be hard to beat.
The rest of the weekend was without big problems, the hill looked good, and the crowd was amazin The only thing I want to talk about is how big the differences are that the wind has in a hill like this...we could see wind range from -10,3 to +0,5 from the same gate, for sure this can be up to 25m difference..and the compensation points are far away from making this right. We have the gate factor, and I can`t understand why they dont use tis more, it is quite easy to move the gate.
This has actually been a big problem this season- also the lights have been like this: Why do they give green lights in so bad conditions, as they sometimes do!? I have seen more than one time green lights have been given, even if the wind was on red. That, of course, destroys everything for those athletes.
This weekend again the jury was way too defensive. This is skiflying and we want more long jumps..a lot of viewers switch off the TV, because it is boring to watch. This is bad for the sport. I dont understand why they are so afraid.
Maybe they should go back to a bigger suit, lower speed and safer landings..then it was no problem to jump the HS or more.
Hopefully this will be better already in Wisla, let`s hope so.
