Ziobro grabs his first world cup victory in Engelberg!

21/12/2013 17:45

Jan Ziobro of Poland is today’s winner in Engelberg The young polish ski jumper has grabbed his first world cup victory, in a location were his current team mate (today second and new overall world cup leader) Kamil Stoch has already won there, so it happened for Polish legend Adam Malysz. We can actually say that the continuous domination of Poland in ski jumping it should start to get quite scaring for other nations. In fact Poland hasn’t dominated just in Engelberg today placing two of their ski jumpers on the podium, but they also made sure to win at the winter Universiade in Predazzo, Trentino, as well, with K.Biegun which has imposed himself on the LH, same hill which have seen back in 2003 Adam Malysz winning the gold medal at the World Championships, and also saw Kamil Stoch doing the same at last year World Championships. If back in the day, at the Malysz days, Poland has had the “only” Malysz to rely on now the story is totally different, the amount of young and willing ski jumpers along with the veterans is growing every day, and Poland is dominating the ski jumping world, on each, or better almost all competitions. Today was a further prove of what this nation can do, and beware people ‘cause #Sochi is getting closer day after day. Ziobro deserves a 10+ after his today performance! The young polish kept his mind well focused and stayed on the top from the beginning (after the first round he was 1st) ahead of Bardal (2nd today) and Janda 3rd with a provisional core of 134.9. While if throughout the competition today the jumps haven’t been so good, only a few have managed to get some decent ones and reach the top places. Even Gregor Schlierenzauer have struggled to do well today, and ended the day at 27th place, passing in this way the yellow bib to Kamil Stoch. The race has started really well, but the majority of the big names have had troubles to get the proper distance, Simon Ammann was one of them in fact the best amongst the swiss team after the first round was Pascal Kaelin, with a 15thplace. The Swiss champion has managed to get at 134m in the final round and finished at the 11th place. Stoch is the new Overall World Cup leader: Kamil Stoch, took away the yellow bib from Gregor Schlierenzauer’s back after a convincing performance in Engelberg. The polish ski jumper already yesterday during the qualification round has shown to be in a really good shape, just like the entire polish team. In the first round today Stoch ended at the 7th place ahead of another polish, his team mate and yesterday qualification runner up Klemens Muranka in 8th place.

Bardal the best for the Norwegian: Last year gold medalist in Predazzo, Anders Bardal, finished 3rd today in Engelberg, missing out the victory only by 7.1 pts difference to Ziobro. The Norwegian is showing to be the more consistent in Alexander Stoeckl team. But someone else did very well for the Norwegian team today, Ole Marius Ingvaldsen. Ingvaldsen finished at the 9th place of the table ahead of team mate Anders Fannemel 10th. Disastrous day for Italy: If yesterday has been a good day for the Italian team, managing to qualify all three their ski jumpers, today it can’t be described as another good day for Italy. In fact all three athletes didn’t make it through to the final round. With Bresadola and Colloredo ending at the 45th and 46th respectively, and Roberto Dellasega being the best finishing in 36th place. A special mention goes to the very good result for Jakub Janda which ended at 4th place today. First good result for the Czech ski jumper in a while.
