After yesterday’s podium and the farthest qualification jump right before today’s competition, Kamil Stoch from Poland could reach his 8th world cup victory of his career right ahead of the Swiss Simon Ammann who also had a good result yesterday and the Japanese Noriaki Kasai. But though, the competition was overshadowed by the bad fall of the Austrian Thomas Morgenstern…

Once more the 26-year-old Kamil Stoch from Zakopane proved he is in an amazing shape at the moment. With 7.8 points and widths of 142.5 and 138.5 meters (300.7 points) he won clearly ahead of the Swiss Simon Ammann on rank 2. The 32-year-old lost the chance on the victory already in the first round when he also jumped on 142.5 meters but missed a proper telemark-landing. In the second round he landed on 141.5 meters and had a total of 292.9 points. Conceivably small was the gap between him and the 41-year-old Japanese Noriaki Kasai who jumped on139.5 and 137.5 meters (292.0 points). In the end there were only 0.9 points between them.

Fourth became the Norwegian Anders Bardal (139.0 and 142.0 meters, 291.8 points. Janne Ahonen can be very happy about the best result in this Olympic season. He took the 5th rank with jumps on 134.5 and 140.5 meters and a total of 284.9 points. With the steady improving performance, he clearly shows the direction he wants to move in at the Four Hill Tournament in two weeks and especially at the Olympic Games in Sochi.

Japan and Germany again with Top ten results

Like it was already in other competitions before also Taku Takeuchi and Daiki Ito from Japan and Severin Freund and Richard Freitag from Germany showed again their constancy and finished again in the top ten. Takeuchi took the 6th place behind Janne Ahonen (twice 138.0 meters, 282.3 points). His teammate Ito landed his jumps twice on 137.0 meters and became 7th in the end (280.6 points). Rank 8 was shared by Gregor Schlierenzauer from Austria (137.5 and 138.5 meters, 279.8 points) and the German Severin Freund (138.0 and 137.0 meters, also 279.8 points). Richard Freitag finished 11th with jumps on 136.5 and 134.5 meters and a total of 275.5 points).

Disappointing weekend for the Italians:

After the good results from last weekend in Lillehammer, team Italy can’t be happy with the results from the competitions in Titisee-Neustadt. After yesterday’s disappointing 40th and 41st places for Roberto Dellasega and the currently best Italian Davide Bresadola, they experienced another setback today. Sebastian Colloredo didn’t come though the qualification once again while his teammate Bresadola was disqualified after his qualification jump. The reason for the disqualification was a not rule-compliant jumping suit.

The only hope for the team in the competition was Dellasega. Sadly, he missed the second round by finishing only 43th.

Thomas Morgenstern with bad fall:

The good atmosphere at the hill was overshadowed by the terrible fall of Thomas Morgenstern. At the landing of his jump the 27-year-old lost the control over his left ski, twisted his knee and bumped his head on the frozen ground in the run-out of the hill. A helicopter took him to the hospital in Freiburg, Germany.

According to first information from the Austrian chef coach Alexander Pointner, Thomas Morgenstern is conscious and feeling intense pain all over his body, especially in his throax and his right hand. In addition to that, he suffered some wounds in his face.

At the moment, there is no more information about his health.
