From Kuusamo to Lillehammer hoping in something different!

06/12/2013 21:14

Ski jumping is a sport which mostly depend on Mother Nature wish.

So far in this season, we can't say that Mother Nature haven’t shown any sort of love or sympathy for this sport, in fact the constant bad conditions - wind, again- made it impossible first to go ahead with both official training and qualifications the past Thursday, so that, they had to be postpone to the day after (Friday), where we've seen Gregor Schlierenzauer to winning the race -Reminder:Schlierenzauer refused to jump in Klingenthal after the fell of his team mate Andreas Killer and the continuous bad wind conditions- ahead of Marinus Kraus and Thomas Morgenstern.

Unfortunately things haven’t got any better the day after, as Mother Nature with Sata’s help, still wanted to have her says about it, so much so, that there’s been no competitions in the day of Saturday and did not been rescheduled either for the day after. When people go to Kuusamo, they must always keep in mind that there are good chances to not be able to enjoy ski jumping.

Now that the WC will move to Lillehammer for the weekend, there is to hope, of no more dramas caused by the weather.

Is going to be an interesting weekend as we all seen starting with the victory of Japan in the MT-Race, but also with the comebacks of Tom Hilde and Anders Bardal which haven't travelled to Kuusamo after the season opening in Klingenthal. Another come back also for Anders Jacobsen, which will take part at this weekend competitions in Lillehammer after a knee injury suffered at the end of the past season.

Expert comment : Hello guys. Again it’ s no fun to make a report about things around the comp.

Also Kuusamo showed us a difficult side this year.

Wind was also here the biggest problem, but here cold is also a big part of this.

There is no warm cabin on top of the inrun, and when the wind is strong, the jumpers get really cold.

For sure for those who had to wait a long time before jumping.

This gives them actually small chances to make a good jump..the cold feet and body makes them stiff.

So again we had a canceled comp and a weekend with wind and waiting.

Only thing I want to say is that more nations where better than in Klingenthal.

It seems that Austria and Norway are back on track.

More nations and athletes are fitting for top 15 and this is good for the sport.

Next weekend the WC moves to Norway and Lillehammer. Let`s hope it can be a good weekend finally without to much wind.

At least the forecast looks quite good. (note: here you can put the sentence about the girls' season start from his first version)"

Best regards Gorm.
