Schlierenzauer wins first competition in Kuusamo after a great comeback!

Schlierenzauer wins first competition in Kuusamo after a great comeback. Austrian top jumper Gregor Schlierenzauer could win the first World Cup he is competiting in this season and takes his 51st victory. Marinus Kraus on 2nd place and strong Thomas Morgenstern completed todays first three.

After first round it did not seemed that Gregor Schlierenzauer could win as he was on the 15th place but with a jump on 143m in the final round he could fixed his first triumph in the young season. Also Marinus Kraus showed again why he is in the German World Cup Team as he reached his first podium in World Cup ever. Thomas Morgenstern is on the way back to old strength and took the third place just 0.4 points behind the young German.

Another surprise today was done by 23 year old Norwegian Robert Johansson who won his first World Cup points in his first World Cup competition on taking the 13th place. Also Davide Bresadola from Italy could show two good jumps today and so he made his best World Cup result on Rank 24.

Oldie but goldie this is a great phrase for the performance of Noriaki Kasai today. The 41 year old Japanese, who truly could be father of some young athletes, reached 5th place. And also Team USA has to report a success today, as Nicholas Fairall jumped on place 28.

Finnish spectators where a bit disappointed as the national heroes could not manage to have a good competition again and with Jarkko Määttä there was only one local boy who could reach the second round and finished on place 26.

A mistake was done by the organizer as they announcent Marinus Kraus as the new World Cup leader but he is still one point behind Krzyztof Biegun who tooks 18th place.
