A chat withDaniele Varesco
We are proud to meet a new jumper right after him being officially announced as a new team member. To introduce him to the ski-jumping world in the right way, we asked him about his first impressions at the training camp in Tarvisio:
- How's your first training camp with the team? Daniele Varesco: “Good, it’s been very useful. I used it to know a bit better the team mates and the coaches, get more into the group and under stand what’s my acutal shape”. - When did you decide to quit Nordic combination and to come to ski-jumping? DV: “Let’s say that the decision wasn’t mine, or better, not totally. It’s been taken by the trainers and the Federation, after the time they gave me to decide had expired”. - What changed in your life since you joined the professional ski-jumpers? DV: “Nothing changed until now, as I carry on doing the same things I used to do before. I don’t train on cross country anymore, but I mean, I can still do it anytime I want. The only thing I have to change a bit is my diet, because I have to lose some weight”.
- What do you think about your new coaches? DV: “I know that they are all very good and professional coaches, because I’ve already had the opportunity to work with two of them, Walter Cogoli and Ezio Brigadoi. I’m sure we’ll work a lot together”. - What are your goals for the near future? DV: “For the moment we aim to train well and lose the weight in excess, in order to be fit and in a good shape for the FIS Cup competition in Villach, which will take place in the middle of July”.
- What will your year in the C-team look like? What competitions will you have? DV: “This year I’m going to attend some FIS Cup competitions and maybe some Continental Cup competition, if there will be the occasion. In September the Alpen Cup circuit will start and then, in January, there’ll be the Junior World Championship in Predazzo, in which I hope to achieve good results even if I’m aware it will be a very tough event”.
- Do you want to tell your fans something about you personally? When is your birthday? Are you still going to school? What are your hobbies? DV: “I was born on the 25th of July in Cavalese, near Predazzo, and yes, I still go to school. It’s a technical-environmental instute in Cavalese. I love cycling, but I also like to swim and take a walk in the mountains”. - Who's your idol? DV: “My idol is Janne Ahonen, but lying outside the ski jumping ambit there is another one, which is Valentino Rossi”. - Which skies are you jumping? DV: “I jump with Fluege.de Skis”. - What do you look forward to most in ski-jumping? DV: “I don’t know yet, reaching top levels in Italy is very difficult, but I hope to achieve concrete and solid results in my career”.
We wish you all the best for this and will cross our fingers for amazing results next season! Thanks, Daniele.
