POLAND WINS IN WISLA!

02/08/2013 22:30

Is the second weekend of the Summer Grand Prix and Poland has already left their mark on the team event which was hosted today in Wisla! Just like Japan did in the Mixed Team on the opening of the summer season in Hinterzarten (GER). The polish made sure that their fans had something to celebrate about tonight! Finishing ahead of Germany with a 35.8 pts difference, Poland has made quite clear that they were the one to beat today. So there was not too much Germany – second placed today- could have done against a very balanced Poland. The polish team has found in Biegun – new entry for the next winter season?- , Kot, Kubacki and Stoch very good jumps in all of their jumping sessions. It should not come as a surprise if one of these four – mostly Kot, Stoch and Kubacki- will win also the men event tomorrow. Germany, the second placed today with a final score of 1022.6 pts, just like Poland has always been in the top three spots today and with the likes of Wellinger, Freitag as the main men.

Freund struggled a bit, he’s probably not there yet with the body condition, but still managed to show decent jumps just like Neumayer. Slovenia on the other hand has shown once again how grown this nation is…closing in the 5th position after the first round the Slovenians have managed to reach the podium and finish in the third spot with a final score of 990.2. Here’s the Top 8 : Poland 1058.4 Germany 1022.6 Slovenia 990.2 CZE 972.4 Japan 968.5 Swiss 957.0 Norway 954.6 Austria 941.4 Surprise of the day came with Switzerland and their 6th place in the team event. Is not very usual to see the swiss team competing in a team event in fact most of the time the team is composed by the only Simon Ammann, but some good signs have been shown already the past season with the ones like Gregor Deschwanden an Marco Grigoli compete in few World Cup races and taking part to the WSC in Predazzo. This summer the swiss has added one more piece to their team, Pascal Kaelin the young ski jumper from Einsiedeln has in fact showed very good jumps with a prospective for the swiss to bring a proper team at the next Winter Games in Sochi (RUS).
