Ski-jumping is on again with the COC that started last weekend!

First day- all chances

The beautiful Stams in Tirol, home of one of the most famous ski-schools with for example former student Gregor Schlierenzauer and current student Elias Tollinger was host of two amazing Continental-Cup competitions.

On Saturday, Krzysztof Biegun celebrated his first COC-victory with 113 and 106m (243.7points) that made him winner ahead of Daniel Wenig from Germany, who managed 110.5 and 103.5m (231.2points). Third was his colleague Stephan Leyhe with 226.9points (110.5/100m).

Team Germany was able to place four of their athletes in the top ten with Jan Mayländer and Pius Paschke being on the following places. Second best Czech was Cestmir Kozisek, who seems to keep his form troughout the year (9th). He left the place for the best Czech to Jakub Janda, who landed on rank six.

The Italian with a nameable result was Davide Bresadola, who showed 100.5 and 96m (22nd).

Vincent Descombes-Sevoie became 17th, while Ronan Lamy-Chappuis becomes better with time. The latter got rank 25.

Matthey Rowley (CAN) and Konstantin Sokolenko (KAZ) have been disqualified.

Some jumpers, who have been guests in the World-Cup frequently couldn’t jump on a good position. There are for example Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes (36th) - but well, he’s back from an injury so we forgive him; Marco Grigoli (43rd), Anders Johnson (48th) and Anton Kalinitschenko, who could only name himself 55th.

We hope they can step it up a notch before the SGP starts! By the way: There are only 22days left until the summer tour begins in Hinterzarten, Germany! Are you excited?

And last but not least: We are proud to have a Hungarian jumper participating in the COC since summer 2012: Akos Szilagyi, born in 1995.

The second day changed the dominances

Saturday’s Germans have been thrown out of the top ten, while Jakub Janda went on to his eighth COC-victory and the first in three years (109.5/115m; 256.1points). His second performance was the best jump in the whole competition. He was followed by Justin Rok (112/111.5m; 254.8points)and Jan Ziobro with his 109.5 and 113.5m (250.9points). The Slovenian Rok, who is 20 years old, started making it on the podium in a COC this year- it’s his fourth time there. Jan Ziobro on the other hand has been there five times now.

Cestmir Kozisek could improve and finished fourth, only 0.3points behind Ziobro. The Polish team has been the strongest this time with four athletes among the best ten. Biegun got rank eight. Markus Eisenbichler (6th) and Marinus Kraus (10th) have been the only Germans there. It seems like Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes and Vincent Descombes-Sevoie shake a leg pretty fast. The Canadian placed himself on rank eight along with yesterday’s winner and the French men became twelfth.

Nicholas Fairall from the US gained places and could be gaining points soon. He ended up on place 34. Lukas Müller on the other hand, who has been the favorite last year, wasn’t able to gain points the whole weekend. What is wrong with him? Also team Italy didn’t give its best, no points for them either.

Disqualifications happened to Nejc Dezman, Nicolas Mayer and Stefan Huber.

The summer continues with the FIS-Cup in Erzerum on Friday and Saturday this week and with the COC in Kranj (06./07.07.). Stay tuned!
