Finland named teams for 2013/14

After the USA, Germany, Kazakhstan and Canada now also Finland announced their teams for the season 2013/14. Janne Ahonen, who will make his second comeback in the upcoming season, receives a place in the A-team from Finnish head coach Pekka Niemelä.

The maybe largest surprise of the Finnish team announcement is that Janne Ahonen is going to receive a place in the A-team. When he made his first comeback, he had to work for this position with good results in the competitions. Beside Ahonen, also Lauri Asikainen, Janne Happonen, Sami Heiskanen, Anssi Koivuranta, Ville Larinto and Olli Muotka will compete in the Worldcup next season.

“Not only the latest results, but also the potential of the athletes played a role when the teams were named”, the head coach explained tofinnjumping.fi. According to Niemelä the preparation for the new season is going to begin soon.

Junior-Team with six athletes

For the Junior-WSC-Team in the upcoming season are named Antti Aalto, Aapo Lehtinen, Jarkko Määttä, Juho Ojala, Miika Ylipulli and Santeri Ylitapio. Until now it is not clear, who is going to train this group.

Further seven athletes were named for the Juniors Team: Niko Kytösaho, Tuomo Mutru, Pyry Ruikka, Markus Virrantalo, Tuomas Kaakkunen, Jonna Veteläinen und Andreas Alamommo.
