Here are the candidates for the World-Championships in 2018 and 2019

May 1st has been the day when all candidates for the next Nordic Ski World-Championships and also Ski-flying World-Championships had to deliver their application! So now it’s official that Planica is applying (as SJI reported in April). But not only the well-known venue in Slovenia is eager to host the Nordic Ski World Championships after the favor went to Lahti the last time. Also Almaty (KAZ), Oberstdorf and Seefeld in Austria applied for this big chance in 2019.
Until now, Oberstdorf is the only venue, who is a candidate for the Ski-flying WSC in 2018. It seems like they have a great chance then.
All participants got the task to plan a detailed concept until September 1st, which the FIS Inspection Group will have a look at. Those will be discussed at the FIS meeting in Zürich that will set place in October.
Then in 2014 the FIS will vote for the best applicant during their conference in Barcelona (June 5th 2014). We can be excited. Will Planica make it this time? Or will it be Seefeld, the rather unknown venue for those, who follow WCs only?
However, it’s a long time until 2018/19. In the meantime we can look forward to the next Ski-flying World-Championships in Harrachov (2014) and Bad Mitterndorf (2016) as well as the WCS in Falun (2015) and Lahti (2017).
