WC in Lahti: German-Norwegian triumph in today’s competition

10/03/2013 22:32 WC in Lahti: German-Norwegian triumph in today’s competition - Richard Freitag, Anders Bardal, Severin Freund and Anders Jacobsen on the podium!

Werner Schuster and Alexander Stöckl can be proud of their ski jumpers. They have shown really great jumps. Especially Richard Freitag who dominated in both rounds. He took the lead in first round with jump at 126.5m and he successfully defended it in the second with jump at 128.5m. Better jump (at 126.0m) of Anders Bardal in the final round allowed him to took 2nd place in the end (from 6th place in first). At the lowest step of the podium we could see today ex aequoe Severin Freund (124.0m, 124.0m) and Anders Jacobsen (123.0m, 127.0m). They both earned 265.8 points.

Two Poles were round behind the podium: Kamil Stoch and Maciej Kot. 5th place for the World Champion from Val Di Fiemme - after amazing jumps on the training sessions and great jumps in the team competition where Poland took 3rd place especially thanks to Kamil - can be little bit dissapointed. After first round he took 2nd place but in the final he jumped only 123.5m. It was enough only for 5th place. The situation looks quite different for Maciej Kot. His 6th place with two good jumps is really great results for 22-years-old jumper. 7th place belonged to four-time Olympic champion Simon Ammann. With two equal jumps (121.0m 124.0m) he showed that he is in stabile shape but all in all we can suppose that he’s not completly satisfied. Ammann and all fans know that he can be much better. 8th was Tom Hilde, 9th the legendary jumper from Japan Noriaki Kasai and 10th Michael Neumayer. No Austrian ski jumpers in top 10 was the one big surprise. The best of them Gregor Schlierenzauer. He finished at disappointing 15th place. We can only wondering what is the cause of such poor performance of jumpers from Austria. Alexander Pointner have to do something with it quickly. Even though Gregor Schlierenzauer will definitely keep victory in the overal classification (he had 538 points of adventages at 2nd Bardal) it's not the same team like in the previous seasons.

The statistics of the individual competition in Lahti The longest jump: FREITAG Richard: 128.5 m The longest jump in the first round: FREITAG Richard: 126.5 m The longest jump in the final round: FREITAG Richard: 128.5 m The shortest jump: HULA Stefan: 94 m The highest score: FREITAG Richard: 138.2 points The lowest score: HULA Stefan: 73.3 points
