Richard Freitag made german fans happy winning the ski flying event in Oberstdorf Oberstdorf has seen Richard Freitag winning his second world cup race today. What an amazing day this for team Germany is, in fact Richard Freitag has managed to win the ski flying event in Oberstdorf today, and leave behind him, Andreas Stjernen – at his first ever podium in the WC- second and Gregor Schlierenzauer third. The young german has shown two jumps of 206.5 and 209 meters for a total score of 409.8 pts. Not bad for the 22 year old, which has also been named Man of the Day. "It already went well in training and in the qualification. I think that I achieved this result because we were working really hard over the last couple of weeks. I hope that this will also be a boost for the World Championships. Now I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Everyone will enjoy the jumps again, but many teams are jumping very well right now. Winning a ski flying competition here in front of the home crowd is a good feeling" has told the german to Berkutschi.com. But this wasn’t just a good day for Freitag it was also for Norway which grabbed a second place with one of the most in form of the team lately, Andreas Stjernen! The Norwegian has had two good jumps 205.5 and the longest of the day with 212 for a score of 409.5, only 0.05 basis points from the victory. As already mentioned above this was Stjernen first ever podium in a World Cup race and couldn’t come in a better time than this. At only few days away from the NWSC, Stjernen has shown the Norwegian guys are still there and ready to get the job done. "It was a great day, honestly I'm a bit surprised that I landed on the podium. This hill is great, you are not high over the knoll and that's good for me. I have to try to achieve such good results also on normal hills. If we jump well as a team tomorrow then we have a realistic chance to win the Team Tour." Has said Stjernen to Berkutschi.com. Schlierenzauer still smiling despite not winning…..again! The winning record holder Gregor Schlierenzauer ended the podium with a third place. This is the second race in a row that Gregor didn’t manage to win, but still he has a good reason to smile as he sees increasing his leadership in the overall world cup table with 1320 points, with Bardal far behind at only 782 points. "It was a really nice ski flying competition today. My first jump was not so good, the second one was better. We will give our best again on Sunday, even if Slovenia already has a good lead and the Norwegians are also doing well." He has said to Berkutsci.com Tomorrow will take place the team competition before everyone move straight to Val di Fiemme for the NWSC (Nordic World Ski Championships) [@KokkaMufc]
