43rd victory for Gregor Schlierenzauer

Another weekend of competition has ended in Engelberg, the last WC race of 2012. It was a quite interesting weekend the one who just finished. We’ve had the chance to see some really good jumps especially (as happened yesterday) in the final round, like the one made by young Andreas Wellinger, not just the longest jump of the final round but the whole competition with 138.5. 43° win for Gregor Schlierenzauer only three away from Nykänen record: Gregor Schlierenzauer only three away from Nykänen
He is the kind of guy that you have two choices, you like him or not, but either ways no one can deny the incredible talent of Gregor Schlierenzauer.
The 22 year old has marked this day as the day he won his 43rdcompetition in his career. With two jumps of 136/131 in both rounds, Schlierenzauer has secured the podium for today event with 273.7 points, only 3.4 ahead of Wellinger (first podium in WC) and Kofler, which shared the second place with the young german. What can we say more about Gregor that others haven’t said yet? The records and victories speak for himself and there is not too much left to say when a talent like this keep winning and marking constantly his name in the history of this sport. Have the Norwegians ran out of gas? Team Norway before the start of the season. Photo found on internet. This can hardly be described as a good weekend for the Norwegian team, even if two of them made it into the top 15 (Hilde 9th Bardal 11th). This might just be “a moment” but my impression is (I might be wrong though) is they look a bit fatigue, tired, like if their bodies doesn’t react in the right way. Let’s hope to see better (like podium) results starting from Oberstdorf with the first competition of the 4 Hills Tournament. Norway isn’t the only one who’s “struggling” at the moment, Simi too.

Despite his 26th place at today competition (much better than the 41st of yesterday) Simon Ammann, is having some problems to find the right conditions at the moment. In a home venue like Engelberg there was all possible chances for the Olympic champion to do well, instead this has been a weekend to forget for the Swiss wizard. Bresadola missed a huge chance in first round:

Italy started the season in an awesome way, with the podium (3rd) in Lillehammer in the mixed-team, and that gave some good vibes to the Italian guys, which sadly after the podium could not managed to do as well as at the opening of the winter season in Norway. With Morassi that decided to not take part at the rest of competitions until the start of the 4HT, Italy competed today with Colloredo and Bresadola, both qualified for the race. Bresadola today closed the qualification round with the 3rd result, but neither him or Colloredo managed to get through the first round. Let’s hope in some better luck and result in time for the World Championships that this year will be host in Val di Fiemme. On a general point of view, that was a pleasant weekend of competition, with some nice results coming from the new/old young faces of ski jumping, assuring or better warning that they are ready to fight and got what it takes to do well. For the moment we leave you wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, be your holidays be blssed. (@KokkaMufc)
