Double victory in the ladies competition in Sochi – Iraschko and Coline Mattel share the first place!
Coline Mattel and Daniela Iraschko, who both got the ungrateful fourth place yesterday shared the highest place on the podium in today’s race. Both got 231.1points for tries of 96.5/94.5m (Iraschko) and 98.5/92m (Mattel). Sara Takanashi was first after the beginning (97m) but fell back on rank three in the end (91.5m; 228.9points). Nevertheless, she’s leading the overall WC ranking with 240 points now (24counts ahead of Sarah Hendrickson, who “only” finished seventh today). Jacqueline Seifriedsberger could improve and climb to the fourth place (98.5/95m; 225.3points), while Carina Vogt has been best German again (5.; 96.5/92m). Lindsey Van made it into the final round again, stating that yesterday’s out was just a slip-up. She became sixth with a 97m-jump in the final round. If her first jump would have been farther than 90.5m, she would have been able to fight for the podium. Sarah Hendrickson didn’t have such a good day as yesterday and landed on 93.5 and 91.5m (212.1points). Abby Hughes and Yuki Ito supported their already named team mates on the following places.
Unfortunately Elena Runggaldier- in distance to the podium with her 95m-jump after the first round on place seven- fell after her second try and fell back to rank 27. Her team-mate Roberta D’Agostina finished on the place behind her.
Nice to mention is the amazing eighth place by Anja Tepeš, who has been pretty close behind the female jumpers ahead of her (211.5points).
Norway on the other hand was kicked out of the top ten. Anette Sagen wasn’t able to catch up with the best today and ended up on rank eleven. Lundby (13.) and Jahr (18.) also only could finish top twenty. Eva Logar followed Tepeš -the best Slovenian jumper today- on the twelfth place, while Rogelj and Bogataj followed on rank 14 and 16. Senja Würth slided to the 21st place, while Atsuko Tanaka could improve by eight places compared to the last race. Sonja Schoitsch from Austria was able to get WC-points (25.) as could Bigna Windmüller (Switzerland; 30.).
All in all, it was a diversified and interesting race. If Elena Runggaldier can stand her jump in the next race, we have a big chance to see her finish top ten! So mark your calendars: The next competition will take place in Ramsau, Austria on December 14th.
