Katharina Althaus‘ predominant victory in this weekend’s Alpencup

The ladies’ Alpencup season started in Pöhla and Bischofsgrün, Germany. All victories went to Katharina Althaus.

During the opening in Pöhla Katharina Althaus showed that she is in a great form. On the HS65-jumping she managed a 60.5m jump and went into the leader-box with an advantage of 6.9points. After the final round she even improved this to 13.6points with a 62.5m-jump and won with a total of 232.2points.

On the second place has been Svanja Würth (58.5/60.5m; 214.6points) ahead of Italian Maunela Malsiner of Skiclub Gerdene, who jumped 58.5 and 60.5m (214.6 points). Malsiner improved from place seven to the third place in the finals.

Lucienne Höppner (213.8points), from Germany, lost her promising second place and landed on rank four ahead of German Veronika Zobel (213.7points). Also Austrian Sonja Schoitsch (211.5points) lost some places in the second round and got rank seven.

During the next station in Bischofsgrün, Althaus confirms her constitution with a victory after her tries of 66 meters each and an overall score of 237.6 points. The second place with 14.6points less went to Veronika Zobel with 62.5 and 65.5meters and a total of 223points. Third became Ramona Straub, from Germany (63/64.5m;222.3points). Svenja Würth, who missed the podium by only 0.2points got place four.

Chiara Hölzl (SV Schwarzach) landed on place five (220points) ahead of fellow Schoitsch (215.5points). Manuela Malsiner gained 201.5points and reached place eleven.

Also on the last competition day there was no way to beat Katharina Althaus. Her jumps of 67 and 68meters brought her the first place again (243.3points). She was followed by Hölzl (66.5/67.5meters; 237.9points) and Zobel (66.5meters each; 232points). This time Schoitsch became fourth ahead of Malsiner and Straub. The 13-year old Gianina Ernst from Switzerland has been close behind Althaus and Chiara Hölzl but lost her position after her second jump and got rank nine in the end.

The overall-ranking displays Katharina Althaus' awesome condition. She is leading with the highest amount of possible points. Second in line is Veronika Zobel (185points) followed by Svenja Würth, who has 162points on her list.

The next competition for the ladies will set place at the SGP-weekend in Einsiedeln (August 31st- September 1st), where the male jumpers will compete at the same time.
