Jacobsen wins first competition in Kranj
Yesterday there was the second stop for the COC this summer – this time in Kranj, Slovenia.
Anders Jacobsen was the deserved winner after his jumps of 107.5 and 111m with 262.8 points. Jacobsen, who promises to be a strong and hard to fight competitor, said: "I'm very satisfied that I could win here. I hope that I can also fight for top results in winter. That's very important for me.”
Close behind was Slovenian Jurij Tepeš, who was leading in between, but finished with 259.4 points.
Peter Prevc, who had his first competition after his bad fall and shoulder injury in Oberstdorf during the FIS team tour, landed on place three. After a rather weak jump of 103.5m he ended up being 17th after the first round but was able to set the longest jump in the final round (112m).
Last week’s winner Lukas Müller from Austria and Bartolomiej Klusek followed on place four and five. Young Tomaz Naglic (6th)and Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes (7th) also showed great results.
The US team can be really proud of Peter Frenette, who showed his best result with an awesome second jump. This one brought him from place 27 to nine.
15jumpers had to be disqualified because of their suit, among them were Robert Kranjec, Michael Lunardi, Diego and Roberto Dellasega and David Lazzaroni of the French team, who has his comeback this season.
Anders Jacobsen is now leading the COC overall ahead of Lukas Müller and Dawid Kubacki.
