Pekka Niemelä believes Harri Olli can come back into the national team soon!

Two days ago, Harri Olli, who ended his career in January 2011, stated his comeback plans. Now head coach Pekka Niemelä, who has been acused by Olli of being the reason for him quitting ski-jumping, took the chance to talk to the tv channel MTV3 about the talent and possibilities of the 27-year old jumper:

“I think the technique and the course of motions, which he already learned as a child remained pretty well. Through the training he will be able to bring this on a good level again.” Niemelä underlines, that anything will be possible for Harri Olli when the focus lies on the sports entirely.

No one can say without a doubt, when the jumper, who has been sentenced for drinking and bad behavior during his career, will be able to return on the necessarily standard for the national team.

Ski-jumping expert Tommi Nikunen on the other hand thinks a return won’t be easy: “It really needs a lot of hard work. He is incredibly talented but the ski-jumping sport developed into a direction in which physical constitution is even more important than it has been before.” The former national trainer of Finland admitted his surprise because of Olli’s comeback plans towards YLE.

Although Niemelä was blamed by his former protégé for not wanting him in the team the last time, it seems like he isn’t mad about that, as he states: “All potential, well exercising jumpers, who are interested in progress are much welcomed in the team.”

We are sure: If Harri Olli manages to get into a good shape fast, we will see him back in the Finnish team soon!
