Koch wins the competition in Oslo ahead of Freund and Kranjec!

It has been a windy day for the skijumpers in Oslo. Since the race jury around Walter Hofer managed to let two rounds go off in front of about 20.000 viewers and the whole royal family despite wind breaks. But the constantly changing wind found a lot of prominent victioms – some of the best had to face that and failed. Those have been Thomas Morgenstern and Roman Koudelka as well as the stable Lukas Hlava, Neumayer and also the lately good Andi Wank, who didn’t come into the final round and therefore didn’t get world-cup points. No luck did have the young Krzysztof Mietus, who didn’t manage to fight against the wind and didn’t even come to the 100m-line. In the final round the same situation happened to Stephan Hocke, the Russian Vassiliev and also Maximilian Mechler.

In contrast it has been a good day for Martin Koch, who finally got his first victory in ski-jumping after 3 wins in ski-flying.

„It has been a windy competition and those are always hard. You never know what happens. My form is on a high level. This is my first victory on a large hill, I waited a long time for this and I’m happy that it happened on Holmenkollen.”, stated the smiling winner to Berkutschi.com.

His team mate Andi Kofler gained 11 places after his jump of 133m and landed on place 9 in the end, while Gregor Schlierenzauer showed a weak jump in the first round and barely came into the final round. He also gave some tension for the viewers, because he didn’t make it back to the hill in time. Finally he had to be happy with his 16th place. With this he loses precious points to the world cup leader Anders Bardal. He is now 123points ahead of his rival from Austria, because of getting place 10 today.

Despite of this, satisfaction isn’t the motto of the Norwegians today, who expected more in their home competition. Only Andreas Stjernen really managed to convince with his efforts today and saved the 13thplace for himself. The former world record holder Bjoern Einar Romoeren and his formerly strong team mate Fannemel had to watch the final round from the viewers point. Also Vegard Haukoe Sklett seems to be tired at the end of the season.

A surprisingly great result came fron the young Slovenian jumper Jaka Hvala. The silver medal winner in the youth world championships in Erzerum gained the second place in the first round and finished 8th in the end.

Also the Germans can be satisfied with a strong Severin Freund, who overcame his fall in Trondheim 3 days ago without any injuries and celebrated his 10th podium in an individual competition. They also have shooting star Richard Freitag, who probably wanted more than a 6. place after being second in Trondheim.

Now it’s about relaxing a bit to be ready for the skiflying-super-weekend in Planica. Can Anders Bardal successfully defend the world cup leadership or will Schlierenzauer –who already won the skiflying WC twice – be still a danger for him? We can be excited, when there will be two individual competitions and a team competition left in the finals on the second largest flying hill of the world!
