Ito wins competition in Trondheim, Bardal fourth!

What a jumping! What a fun to watch the competition in Trondheim today. We saw two new hill records, a fall and one of the rare competitions without a wind break!

The qualification which set place only 1h15min.before the competition turned out to be the end of the day for Mechler, Larinto and Hayboeck. The new Russian jumper Ilmir Hazetdinov was disqualified because he wore a wrong suit. For Ammann and Koch on the other hand it was the beginning of huge expectations for the competitions. An awesome Ammann won the qualification ahead of Koch and Fannemel with 137,5m and a lead of 5,6points. Tom Hilde finished on 20.place. Wank and Jaka Hvala, the young Slovenian have been surprisingly good having the 4. and 5.place.

The first round started really promising. But some routinated jumpers have been in a bad mood missing the final round. One of them was Tom Hilde, who took his finger like a gun into his mouth. Jurij Tepes, who's also really emotional beat his helmet like mad. Kenneth Gangnes was the unlucky 31.

Then we saw a new hill record by Richard Freitag who jumped 140,5m- half a meter more than Ammann and Schlierenzauer a few years ago. So he was leading after t.first round ahead of Daiki Ito and Freund, Koudelka has been fourth, Morgenstern was the best Austrian jumper being 7. before the final round. He also finished 7.in the end.

Severin Freund being 3. after first round didn't manage to stand his 133,5m-jump and fell on the back of his head and on his back. But luckily he stood up and walked out of the landing zone. Let's hope he doesn't get a concussion. Still he got the 9.place.

Daiki Ito was the deserved winner of today's competition with his new hill record of 141m. Richard Freitag became 2.ahead of a strong Simon Ammann. Anders Bardal became 4.- and enlarged his leadership in t.overall WC to 112 Points. It will be really hard for Schlierenzauer and almost impossible for Kofler now, to fight for the yellow bib. It fits Bardal best.

By the way: Ito's last victories brought him the 4.place in t.overall standing now.

We're excited for Oslo this weekend! Don't miss the qualification on Saturday and the competition on Holmenkollen!
