Johan Remen Evensen announced his retirment today

On the same day Alexander Stoeckl announced the team who will take part to the next Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund next weekend, Johan Remen Evensen the current world record holder (record set last year in Vikersund with 246.5 meters) called the day announcing his retirement from Ski Jumping with immediate effect. The news came out like a shock for most of the people who follow and love this sport so much. J.R.E 26 struggled throughout the whole season and he barely compete in the WC this winter. He took the decision to retire from ski jumping last Saturday after his 26thplace in Oberstdorf.Still his decision to call the day is a bit of the schok for everyone considering that with him the number of jumpers who will end their careers this season is up to two so far (Matti Hautamaeki will also retire at the end of the season).

The Norwegian has spoken about the fact his body couldn’t take it anymore: -I have a body that has not worked for me this year. It's been my problem. But despite that, I feel that I have achieved much. I have fulfilled the dream I had when I was eight, which was to set a world record. I've been to Olympic and World Championship medal. And I have won the World Cup victory. My career has been a million times bigger than I thought I would experience with the body I had. Therefore I choose to give me today, when the body says it has had enough, and cannot perform at the highest level that is needed.- Said the 26 year old during his press conference today. #ThankYouJohan This is the team who will take part at the Ski Flying Worlld Championships in Vikersund next weekend.
