Those are the first competitions back in Italy since the last Summer Grand Prix held in Pragelato back in 2009. This year the venue is in Predazzo, in the Val Di Fiemme where the next year Nordic Ski World Championships will take place. Today’s victory went to….surprise surprise …Gregor Schlierenzauer. To be fair Gregor was the only jumper who had two good jumps in both rounds (134 / 134.5) with a final score of 249.8 leaving the german Severin Freund 15 points behind at 2nd place. To finish the podium another Austrian Thomas Morgenstern with a final score of 227.5 points. The overall WC table leader Andreas Kofler finished at 6th place today dropping points. As already happened so far this season, the best for the Norwegian team is Anders Bardal 4th today who dropped at the 3rd place of the WC table. Some other good performances came from Simon Ammann 5th today Koudelka 8th and despite the 11th and 14th place both Ito (winner in Sapporo last weekend) and Takeuchi shown off to be in a really good shape. The only “sad” note from my point of view was the lack of the crowd, especially in a place where the World Championships will be taken in a year time. If it wasn’t for –mostly polish- foreign fans no one would attended but this is another subject which of course affect our (Italian) mentality and let’s hope soon will be sorted.
