Welcome to the final weekend!
It was the weekend of the superlative, the weekend of the heroes and it was tensing as never before!
The final in Planica is always special and for some the old saying "Save the best for last!" totally fits to Planica. Especially this year it is clear - there is truth in this sentence!
Never before was the fight for the World-Cup overall this close. Peter Prevc and Severin Freund have been competitive rivals until the end. Freund with more individual victories, Prevc with more podium places and the former world record on his account.
Never before was the Nations Cup that close. Germany with their ace Severin Freund and Norway with the widest range of competitive athletes. But also Austria should be named in this fight as they have the Four-Hills-Tournament winner and some high-class jumpers on their side.
Also the anticipation for the new hill in Planica added to all the tension - and the athletes added a show worth an Oscar win!
Thank you Severin and Peter, thank you Jurij, thank you Superman, thank you team Norway and Germany for the most tensing weekend in ski jumping, for 5x 20.0 by the judges and for being such great eagles!
This season final was a pleasure to watch and it makes curious for the summer and the next season!
To say good-bye to the season in the right way, we created this all-Slovenian issue for you including a portrait of the legend Rok Benkovic, who's for example the reason why Anze Lanisek started to jump, a portrait of Jurij Tepes, a report about the new hill in Planica as well as the youth in Slovenia peppered with great Slovenian moments.
Enjoy your spring time and make sure to come back to At The Hills to sweeten the waiting time for the summer season with background information and spotlight on every detail about ski jumping!
