Portrait of Rune Velta

Rune Velta is 26-year-old ski jumper from Norway. He debuted in the national team of Norway in 2007, during the FIS Cup competition in Notodden. In the World Cup he debuted in March 2010 in Oslo, and in December 2010 in Lillehammer he gained his first World Cup points.

In the World Cup he places regularly in the top since the season 2011/2012, but he only "jumped" third times on the podium, for the last time in this season in Willingen.

Despite the fact that Velta doesn't have yet on his account the victory in the World Cup competition, on the prestigious events he always gives his best. In 2012 in Vikersund he finished second in the World Championships in ski flying just behind Robert Kranjec, who won the gold medal. He also set his personal best during these event by reaching 243 meters during the final round of the team competition.

Today at the normal hill Lugnet in Falun he became the World Champion and achieved his greatest success in career, by finishing 0.4 points ahead of Severin Freund and Stefan Kraft. Currently he places on the 10th place of the overall standings of the World Cup, which is his best result so far. But as always - the best is yet to come.
